Carlos Quintana – In Practice
Articulo 20TM is proud to present Carlos Quintana – In Practice, a three-day solo exhibition featuring a selection of works by the acclaimed contemporaryCuban artist Carlos Quintana as well as a live, working studio space with the artist himself. Renowned for his fearless use of color and dynamic
interpretation of nature, Quintana’s work was hailed by the late Alex Rosenberg as “original in every aspect”, inviting comparisons to “the best of post-expressionism”. An artist constantly on the move, each canvas blends Quintana’s signature style with influences from his global journey and the world around him.
Among the exhibition’s highlighted works is “the things floating at the river” (2025), a stunning triptych spanning more than 20 feet wide and nearly 7 feet tall. Inspired by the Hudson River, which separates Quintana’s studio from New York City, the expanse serves as a melting pot for the artist to incorporate an incredible variety of experiences from his time in the United States. Oceanic hues lead the eye on a fantastic journey with details and surprises that reward close viewing.
In addition to the finished works on display, this show will offer a rare opportunity to witness contemporary Cuban art in practice as Quintana transforms the gallery into his studio. The artist will be painting several new canvases throughout the duration of the exhibition, with artist interactions influencing the evolving works. Multiple viewings are encouraged to watch the development of each piece.
