Shin Miyazaki was born in 1922 in Japan. During the Second World War he was a prisoners in a Siberian camp for four years. This experience prompted deep philosophical speculation on the nature of human life. This preoccupation found expression in five decades of artistic output in painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking. He is one of Japan's most distinguished artists, with major works in museums around the country. His work of the last few years centers on monumental paintings that use burlap as a medium, and continues with the motif of the human condition. |
